What Remains

Traces of lives and stories embedded within forgotten spaces.

What Remains

What Remains is a photographic exploration of abandoned buildings and forgotten spaces on Hydra. Through an examination of light, shadow, texture and decay, the project reflects on the parallel journeys of architecture and human life. Just as people experience cycles of growth, transformation, achievement, loss and renewal, so too do the structures we build and inhabit.

Photographed within the ruins themselves and exhibited back in the spaces from which the images originate, the work creates a dialogue between past and present, presence and absence. Crumbling walls, weathered surfaces and traces of former lives become reminders that every place carries a history, even when its original purpose has long disappeared.

Rather than focusing on ruin as an end, What Remains considers what persists. The project reflects on memory, resilience and the enduring traces left behind by time, asking not what has been lost, but what continues to endure.

Work in progress; to be anounced, soon
